Is it a subscription?
No. ContextLoom is a one-time $9.99 purchase after a free 7-day trial. No recurring charges, no renewals, no upsells.
What happens when the trial ends?
The app keeps working. The Notes workspace and one project stay free forever, with full editing, preview and local-only secret handling. What locks is having several projects open at once, Context Bundle export, git activity in the sidebar, and iCloud sync for Notes. Projects already in your sidebar are never taken away — to switch, remove the current one first.
Does it upload my files anywhere?
No. ContextLoom makes no network calls at all — the preview renders locally from bundled scripts, and there is no account or server. If you turn on iCloud sync, it applies only to the built-in Notes workspace and goes through your own iCloud Drive. Project folders are never synced by ContextLoom.
What about my .env files?
Secret files are recognized by name and treated differently everywhere it matters: never rendered in the preview, never included in a Context Bundle even if you select the whole folder, never created in the iCloud-synced Notes workspace, and created owner-only. The editor tells you so with a banner.
Does it work with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or my own scripts?
Yes, because it works on files rather than on tools. Claude Code and Codex are what it's designed around — it writes routing rules into CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md and keeps .claude, .codex, .cursor and .github visible in the tree, and .cursorrules and .claudeignore open as config files. Anything else that reads and writes Markdown on disk works the same way.
Will it touch my repository?
Not unless you ask. Opening a project writes nothing into it. ContextDB is created only when you choose it, and it adds one folder and one README; the agent instructions are appended to CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md only after showing you the exact text.
Can I use Git with my project?
Yes — it's your own folder of files, so Git works exactly as it always does. Your root .gitignore is respected when deciding what to show in the tree, and there's a Show Ignored Files toggle for when you need the rest. With Pro, the sidebar also shows the branch, the number of uncommitted files and a state letter on each one. It only ever reads your repository.
